When you want to try something different, swap out the 6L6’s for a set of KT-66’s. If you want more headroom, change the 5U4 to a 5AR4 which will increase the plate voltage and give you more power. Bias is completely adjustable from the outside of the Chassis. Just plug a Stereo ¼” plug into the back jack and with a voltmeter you can measure the plate current of each tube while turning the bias control (Fender knob under the chassis) with your hand. No screwdriver necessary.

So what does it sound like? With single coil pickups you get clean bell like tones right up to the point of clipping, then it just sings the blues. With Humbuckers it’s a totally different amp – big, bold and ballsy. The 5U4 sags perfectly when pushed and sustains those searing bends like a Deluxe on Steroids. Both channels gains match perfectly so you can use either or double them up for even more gut wrenching power and tone and the Sozo tone stacks really give the tone controls smooth responsive action. The balanced Phase Inverter in conjunction with the 6L6GE’s makes the output symmetry exactly the same for a smooth transition from clean to distortion.
